"YES YES, we want to go to the Festival in Freemont, CA!!"
Hi everyone!!!!
This is Ekta!
We hope you all are having an awesome summer! Go see HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE! and...
We also hope you will join us this year as a part of Federation of Indo-American Associations (FIA) Youth in the 12th Annual FIA Independence Day Festival, which will take place on August 14th and 15th.
As many of you already know through experience, the FIA Festival is a two-day celebration of India's Independence Day. It's lotsss of fun and FIA Youth provides a great volunteering opportunity and encourages young people of all backgrounds to participate.
We invite you to participate in the FIA Youth parade float, dance, and Reflections contest.
REFLECTIONS CONTEST: Saturday, August 14th (1-2pm). Reflections is a contest we all started in the summer of 2001, in which we encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to share their knowledge and admiration of individuals who have influenced the Indian or Indo-American societies.
For Reflections 2004, our theme this year is "MUSICAL ARTISTS" you can win lots of prizes as well as a trophy if u win. Whether you want to be a contestant or a volunteer, let us know ASAP so we can add you to the appropriate e-mailing list!
We want this event to be extremely coordinated, so we seek a crew of about 10 volunteers who will put the show together with our assistance. This group of 10 must be dedicated, detail oriented, and able to work well in a team. The group will consist of emcees, scorekeepers, runners, and floor/stage managers.
YOUTH FLOAT We are also in the process of assembling a Youth Float for the Parade on Sunday, 8/15. We're looking for dedicated volunteers to help with float arrangements and to be on the float during the parade. Contact us for more details!
None of the volunteering activities require any prior experience, and all of them are a great way to meet people and have lots of fun while helping your community celebrate India's Independence Day!
Please tell all of your friends (Indians and non-Indians alike) about this volunteering opportunity! That?s about it for now. If you?re interested, contact us with your name, phone number, email address, availability, and preferences. You don?t have to know exactly what you wanna be involved in, but just let us know wsup. Take care!
Your friends from FIA Youth,
Deepa Japra, Ekta Menghrajani, Rajul Shah, Komal Daryani and Avani Oswal
